For Mirjam, the most important thing at the beginning of a new project is having a good idea. She likes to spend much time on creating a suitable concept, so that the story and the visuals are harmonious and fresh.
Based on the original idea she decides if the film would benefit from being an animation or if live action would be a more fitting style. Or maybe a combination of both?
Even if the realization of an idea is exceeding her horizon it is very important to her to try and finish the project. In fact, these projects appeal to her most.
Mirjam is a huge enthusiast for animation, even more than so than for live action. She loves telling stories giving life to something inanimate like drawings, puppets or cut-outs.
